How can I suggest that a book be bought for the library?

Contact your subject librarian. Each department has a library representative who co-ordinates spending for their subject so we will need their permission to order a new title – if you are a member of staff it may be best to approach them directly. If you just want to suggest an extra copy of a book your subject librarian may be able to order this from our multiple copies fund.
